Question 1:

Received "The processor is not supported by RSLogix Micro" error.

Answer 1:

when you see this error it generally means you have done something out of sequence or missed something. Rockwell and other PLC software are very particular, if it doesn't see a set sequence or the smallest of things is missed, it just wont work.

So what I recommend is save the program;
- Close all Rockwell programs, RSLogix Micro, Emulator, RsLinx Classic
- Follow, the Programming Foundation Worksheet 1 from page 13 onwards step by step and this should work. If it doesn't let me know what step it fails at and we can investigate further.

Question 3:

Why is the order of downloading the applications important ?

Answer 3:

The downloading order isn't important but the installation order is kind of important because RSLogix Micro and RSLogix Emulate 500 depend on RSLinx Classic. Hope this helps! Most important is the sequence they are opened, as can be seen by Questions above.

 Question 4: Having issues going online, Dialogue box comes up "drivers failed" or "not connected why is this?

The most common reason people have issues going online is that they have closed the Emulator program after downloading the file to it. Worth checking that the Emulator program is open and the correct program is downloaded. Program in this example is LLF1.

If you see options greyed out and indicating 0.0MB Hard Disk Space Required to install, it is telling you these programs are already installed on your machine. So it would be worth searching for them.

The message about activation, that appears after install can be ignored. You will get a 7 day Grace period (Effectively a trial period). When this 7 day trial period runs out you will get a message much like the one shown above. When this one appears you will need to carry out a software refresh this reset's the 7 day Grace period giving you another 7 days free use. This is the link to the Software refresh Lesson:

Question 5:

Logix Emulate failed to install, upon clicking "Installation Summary" Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable (x86) Failed.

Answer 5:

We have often seen this issue coming up and the fix is, go to this web address for Microsoft;

https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads

Then download the two links for Visual Studio 2015, 2017 and 2019 (x64 and x86) and install these. After they have been installed would maybe recommend restarting your machine and then go for the install again, this should now work.

Question 1: Does the Ethernet IP driver in Rs linx work for the micrologix plc, because I tried in compactlogix via Ethernet IP driver in Rs Linx. It doesn't work so I use the Ethernet devices option, once I tried en2t Ethernet bridge in controllogix rack the Ethernet driver works, why is that?

Answer 1:Some A-B PLC devices don't support the auto-find feature of the EtherNet/IP driver so you have to manually enter the IP address using the Ethernet driver. The newer CompactLogix and ControlLogix controllers and EtherNet/IP cards should work with the EtherNet/IP driver.

Question 2: I am not able to run Studio 5000 emulate, I get an activation error even after renewing the licence?

Answer 2: Please check and ensure none of licenses are not showing in use. Hit the refresh button a couple of times. Then if that doesn't work, refresh the licenses, open the program you are having issues with whilst you are still connected to the server. Then disconnect the server, next time you open this software the 7 day grace period should have reset.

Question 3:When I create a tag in the logic screen, it doesn't seem to be transferring to the monitor/edit tag screen. What am I missing?

Answer 3: When you create a tag you need to ensure you are creating it as a Controller tag making it accessible to that controller. In the example shown here the controller is named "abc" and the tag "a". As you can see in the red box select the controller for it to show up in controller tags.

Question 1:Why is my rung line red color before TON and why I can't set up value?

Answer 1: The error is telling you the tags are undefined this is why you are having issues, you need to define all of the tags on this rung that is red. If you look at the errors ,basically you have typed a tag name in for each function but not actually made the tag. So it is classed as undefined, you need to right Click each one and select New "Tag Name" then create the Tag choosing Data Type and scope, ensure tag name is right and then hit Create.

Question 2:I have a question pertaining to the compute (CPT) instruction, specifically in defining the "expression". As was shown the user/programmer is able to define their own expression, I understand you are able to utilize +, -, *, / but what if you were to calculate something such as the square root, absolute value, etc. . How would you go about it, also is this something that is common or not so common in the industry?

Answer 2:if you Right Click on the CPT function where it has the label CPT, then select Instruction Help. This opens the online Help and shows you every maths function possible along with the symbols to use. Square root is not very common to be honest, but you can be imaginative with the vast list that is available to achieve pretty much any maths you wish.

*** Don't Forget that there is always the Help function available in Studio5000 and is always a good first go to point of reference as it details every instruction, data type and many more useful topics. Worth a look if having problems. ***
